The Port is well-equipped with facilities and services to handle containers and a variety of cargo including different types of bulk, break-bulk, palletized and project cargo. Its Conventional and Bulk Cargo-handling Terminals are the hubs for steel products, cement and project cargo, among others. Recently the Port started a Small Craft Terminal at J1 Basin and the Penjuru Terminal along Sungei Jurong for wooden craft operators and lighter operators, relocated from the Pasir Panjang Wharves, respectively.In addition, there are ample warehouses and open yards to support cargo storage, packing, consolidation and distribution activities in its Free Trade Zone (FTZ). Selective warehouses have also been approved by the London Metal Exchange (LME) Limited for the storage of LME-traded metals. The Port's Container Terminal, which came into operation in mid-2001, has consecutively won the "Best Emerging Container Terminal Operator - Asia" Award at the renowned Asian Freight and Supply Chain Awards (AFSCA) in 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006 and 2007. In 2008 and 2009, the Port was presented an AFSCA Award for the "Best Container Terminal Operator in Asia (under 1 million teus category)". At the Supply Chain and Management Logistics World Awards in 2007, Jurong Port was voted "Best Asia Pacific Container Terminal" Award." Security-wise, the Port has aligned its measures and procedures in line with the international requirements under the International Ship and Port Facility Security (ISPS) Code, administered by the International Maritime Organisation (IMO). The Port's underlying strengths are its customer-focused packages and services, flexibility, reliability and efficiency. |
