34073 GRADO Website Telefon: 0431-80050 Porto Nogaro is a river port, accessible from the Adriatic Sea by means of a 3-mile long canal through the lagoon and the Aussa Corno ship canal, some 4 miles more. The harbor is made up of the two public structures of Porto Vecchio and Porto Margreth, and of the private quay of the former Industrie Chimiche Caffaro, accessible by means of the Banduzzi artificial canal, which is some 1.5-mile long. Porto Vecchio has a total wharf length of 400 meters and a draft of -4.5 meters, while Porto Margreth benefits from a water passage of -7.5 meters, currently with a total wharf length of 600 meters. The Porto Nogaro port area also includes 36 hectares of port yards with their infrastructures, rail spur track, outdoor storage areas and road/rail weighbridge. Currently, about 1.6 million tons of various goods are moved through the port. The ships usually docking in Porto Nogaro have an average tonnage of 3,000-4,000 tons, the largest ones reaching 7,000. Because of the fluvial nature of the access canal to the port, flat-keeled ships have an easier access. |
