The splendid climate (more than 3.000 hours sunny and a middle temperature of 20ºC yearly) is wonderful to enjoy during the whole year across its 100 km of beach, and environment full of history and beauty. Places of ColombusLa Rabida is the most emblematic place; it is the place from where, looking at America, the Monasterio de Santa María de la Rábida is placed. Cristóbal Colón arrived to this monastery in 1.485 and, after many long hours of conversation with Father Marchena, great humanist and expert in Astrology and Cosmography, found the scientific arguments that supported his project. The Monastery, beautiful building from the 15th century that keeps intact the memory of the "El Almirante", is today a privileged observatory of the passing of time. At his feet, The Caravels Wharf, whose waters hold the exact reproductions of the vessels that took Cristóbal Colón to America. This Wharf points out the most important aspects of the technology that promoted the expedition. |
